is a highly diversified and stable community experiencing significant growth and
development. Evans’ population continues to increase, which the Census Bureau
identified at 9,514 in 2000 to 16,400 in 2004. As a result, Evans’ philosophy of
planned, responsible and sustained growth consistently aimed at improving our community's
quality of life brings us great economic potential. Historically, Evans has emerged as a
"Bedroom Community". This designation means the City has traditionally developed
as a residential community with most of the labor force working elsewhere.
